Small But Packs a Punch

Only got a couple songs here today, but these few tracks pack a punch. Style of Eye's "The Prophet" is nothing short of awesome, and Drakes "Over Remix" is solid.

Style of Eye - The Prophet

Drake - Over (Hyper Crush Remix)

Limelight - Ready or Not (Mondo Remix)
This song is ridiculous. Ridiculously good.

And So It Begins

Here something to get your week started. If nothing goes right this week, at least you'll have these.

ERICK MAYER - LIKE A PRAYER (RANUCCI & PELUSI MIX)
BIG BIG TRACK. The vocals are amazing and the beat is ridic. Love this track.

TWO DOOR CINEMA - WHAT YOU KNOW (LIGHTSOVERLA REMIX)
Awesome vocals to go with a very good beat. One of those songs you can listen to over and over, and over.

TWO DOOR CINEMA - SOMETHING GOOD CAN WORK (THE TWELVES REMIX)
Man it seems like every Two Door Cinema remix is gold. I've been waiting for The Twelves to remix another song after the incredible one they did on Fever Ray's "Seven" cause their style of beats are ones that I love the most. Another big track.

BLACK VAN - YEARNING
Switching it up with some nu-disco.

MAJOR LAZER - BRUK OUT (DESTRUCTO REMIX)
Destructo who always does a fine remix, does a number on Major Lazer's Bruk Out.

ROD STEWART - DO YA THINK I'M SEXY (MIGHTYFOOLS REMIX)
ELECTRO - HOUE BAY-BAH!

THE BLOODHOUND GANG - THE BAD TOUCH (DJ SLIDER & DJ MAGNIT REMIX)

Another electro-house bomb with a heavy bass and "So lets do it like they do it on the discovery channel".

So Many Good Songs

It has been a while since my last post, and because of that, I have accumulated a boatload of good songs to share with you. Theres some new Bloody Beetroot tracks, Boys Noize & Erol Alkon tracks, LES PETIT PILOUS tracks, and much more. Brace yourself.

These two songs by Jamaica, formally known as Poney Poney, are refreshing in the sense that they aren't hard hitting electro. They have an indie rock-ish sound combined with some electro. They're both awesome and to make them even better, they were produced by Javier from Justice.

JAMAICA - I THINK I LIKE YOU 2

JAMAICA - CROSS THE FADER

As usual, The Bloody Beetroots made some amazing beats and here are two of their more recent. 31 Seconds to die is not your usual uptempo hard hitting electro, but much chiller. Didn't think I would ever use the word chill to describe a Bloody Beetroots song, but there you have it. It's a good one.

THE BLOODY BEETROOTS - 31 SECONDS TO DIE

THE BLOODY BEETROOTS - DOMINO

LES PETIT PILOUS!!! They just dropped their new EP on Boys Noize Record called Bielle. If you don't know LES PETIT PILOUS, commit their name to memory because they make amazing tracks. Their songs are heavy, dirty, and nasty. Songs that make you wanna get up, dance and cause a riot on the dance floor. They also do some incredible remixes too, but for now check out two songs from their new EP.

LES PETIT PILOUS - GOOG

LES PETIT PILOUS - BOOTY PILLS

It's Boys Noize & Erol Alkan. Enough said. Get it, Get it.

BOYS NOIZE & EROL ALKAN - LEMONADE

I always believed that Chromeo would be a great fit to remix a Vampire Weekend song, and by God was I right. This remix is by far my favorite one. And it has that Chromeo feel, love it.

VAMPIRE WEEKEND - THE KIDS DON'T STAND A CHANCE (CHROMEO REMIX)

Ishivu is some 17 year old genius producer who is up and coming. If you listen to this track you can tell he will do some amazing things.

ISHIVU - ALEXANDR

I love this song from the Night Kids. Its beat reminds me of some things HelloGoodbye did, but with more electro. It also has awesome vocals.

NIGHT KIDS - DONT FUCK UP

O SO DIRTY

Good bassline.

THE LONELY ISLAND - BOOMBOX FT. JULIAN CASABLANCAS

Julian Casablancas from The Strokes teamed up with Andy Samberg on SNL to produce another awesome SNL short. The song is actually really good, and Julian Casablancas' vocals mesh well with the beat. Pretty funny until the end. The ending is kinda gross, unless you're into that stuff.

IF YOU DONT KNOW, NOW YOU KNOW

^ -- Afrojack.

AFROJACK - BANGDUCK (ORIGINAL)

I am starting off this post in order of musical quality. And in the 1st place spot is Afrojack with his new "BANGDUCK." Afrojack is a special producer in that he doesn't fuck up. He keeps producing good beats one after another. Consistency is what separates the good from the best, and he's got that. This song has so many different elements, with the beginning starting off with a what I would describe as a light noted bouncy beat, then dropping a heavy one at 2:19 (a trademark beat of Afrojack's). At 3:23 it gets slower and suspenseful as you know something is going to drop soon then at 4:24 he adds dark piano notes. So DAMN GOOD!

AFROJACK - ZEGGIE (ORIGINAL)

And another one! Starts the song off with Lil Wayne's "A Millie" then drops his usual sick and dirty beats.

AFROJACK - I'LL BE THERE

....AND ANOTHER ONE! Remember that oh so famous and popular song by Major Lazer, "Pon de Floor", which was on everyone's top 100 list. Well, this song has the snare drums that sound very similar to Pon de Floor. I'm sure he got the inspiration for this song from Major Lazer, and it turned out well. They say, imitation is the highest form of flattery.

BOEMKLATSCH - BONAFIED (MIGHTYFOOLS REMIX)

BOEMKLATSCH - REFLEX (ORIGINAL)

This is a really heavy beat. Good drop at 2:37. Check it out.

FUJASAKI - WHAT I LOOK LIKE

good song by a Swedish producer. Yes, he isn't Japanese, despite the name.

FAKE BLOOD AT HARD 13 VIDEO!!!

Fake Blood at Hard 13 this past weekend in LA. There are no words to describe this incredible producer/DJ. He makes the absolutely best beats and god does he know how to kill a DJ set. Somebody call the cops cause he fucking murdered it at Hard 13. His taste in music is incredible as I have loved every song he drops during his set. Not like, LOVE. He's that damn fucking good. In this video, he closes Hard with the cover of Boys Noize & Erol Alkan's Waves by Chilly Gonzalez, then transitions into a great song of his "The Dozens", then into my favorite song by Fake Blood, "Mars." I got chills watching this.

SPRING FORWARD

still getting adjusted to the time change but glad that spring & summer are just around the corner. Must say, I love seeing the sun still up until 8:00 in the summer. For now here are some good songs to end/start your week.

Florrie - Call 911 (Fred Falke Remix)

Fred Falke always makes awesome remixes. Always.

F.O.O.L - To Japan and Never Back

A very smooth intro that makes you hold your breath until it transitions into an amazing beat. Good song.

Crookers - Cooler Couleur (Junkie XL Remix)

Caribou - She's The One (Hot Chip Remix)

Ellie Goulding - Under The Sheets (Chiddy Bang Remix)

Hump Day

Kavinsky - Nightcall

Kavinsky - Pacific Coast Highway

Who is Kavinsky?? A badass dead cruiser who hauls a Ferrari Testarossa. These songs are produced by Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo of Daft Punk and mixed by SebastiAn. That's two big name drops in one sentence. And the songs are good. "Nightcall" comes out exclusively on iTunes March 26. Get it!

Very good remix.

A really hard and dirty remix. gotta love dirty beats.

Not a house song, but a damn good one nonetheless. All of Ellie Goulding's songs are legit. There already have been some remixes of Ellie Goudling by house artists, and expecting more in the future.

YEE IT'S SATURDAY

Breakbot - Baby I'm Yours (Siriusmo Remix)

This song is BIG. Siriusmo does one hell of a remix with this song. Vocals, as in any breakbot song, are awesome and one of my favorite songs thus far of 2010.

Crookers - Lets Get Beezy (Ft. Will I.Am)

Crookers has come back! Just before their new beats I used to be a fan, then lost interest when they started making some retarded ones. But now, they have produced some beats to my liking, such as this one, check it out.

Nathan Fake - The Sky is Pink (IKKI Remix)

Really good remix. Pretty dark and heavy.

Starkey - Fourth Dimension

Just as the title states, its like nothing you've really heard.

The Spinners - I'll Be Around (Diego De La Vega Edit)

The original is good and so is this remix.

MORNING POST TO GET YOUR DAY STARTED

Two Door Cinema Club - Undercover Martyn Flexin' It (Passion Pit Remix)

It's one of those remixes where the vocals of the original are present throughout the whole song and not abruptly inserted/withdrawn at random. A lighter and uplifting beat. Good to listen to on a sunny day like this.

Silicone Project - Veridis Quo (Daft Punk Cover)

One of those rare Daft Punk covers that are actually good.

Passion Pit - Little Secrets (Steed Lord Remix)

Another really uplifting beat with good vocals. The drop in this song was very unexpected, but must say I was pleasantly surprised. Throws you off in a good way.

Little Boots - Remedy (Kitch'n Sync Remix)

Absolutely love this remix. The chorus is really catchy and will have you playing this song on repeat for a while. Favorite of the bunch.

Redial - Let Me Go (R3SET REMIX)

Dope jam.

Natalie & the Loners - It Is So (Kamp! Remix)

A slower tempo, but the vocals in the song are so so good. One of those songs that you could listen to over & over with the headphones. Despite its slower tempo and its somewhat melancholic tone, the song somehow still puts you in a good mood.

Boys Noize- Transmission (Official Video)

This is one trippy video.

GORILLAZ

GORILLAZ FT. DE LA SOUL, GRUFF RHYES - SUPERFAST JELLYFISH

oooo yeahh gorillaz are finally back.

Do Yourself A Favor and Listen to these Damn Good Beats

YELLE  - CE JEU (SLAUGHTERED BY THE VIDEOBAND)

Have no idea what the lyrics mean, but the heavy electronic sound combined with the high-pitched uplifting French tongue makes this a good remix.

VAMPIRE WEEKEND - WHITE SKY (BUKEZ FINEZT REMIX)

This is another really uplifting sounding remix. The sound has a very carnival-like remix to it.

NROTB - DROPLET

A really heavy and dirty song, uptempo, heavy bass, and the repetitive "drop" noise will make you wanna get up and start dancing. Perfect for a big venue to get the crowd shaking, shuffling, you know.

MiiKE SNOW - SILVIA (REDIAL REMIX)

My favorite Silvia remix. Starts out slow with the dark sounds of the piano and Miike Snow's vocal, and starts warming up with a heavy electronic sound gradually crescendoing in the background, then drops in a NASTY fashion.

OH SHIT! & NIGHT DRUGS - EVERYBODY NEEDS (BIT FUNK REMIX)

The best remix of EVERYBODY NEEDS in mi opinion. There's a bunch of them out there by Diamond Cut, Fabian, and The Phantom's Revenge. They're all pretty good but I only put the best of the best. Check it out.

THE HUMAN LEAGUE - DON'T YOU WANT ME? (COMPUTER CLUB EDIT)

I'm sure you've all heard some of the lyrics to the original of the song. It has got a very old school feel to it and the remix is a really fun one to hear.

PASSION PIT - SLEEPYHEAD (NEO TOKYO REMIX)

Really good remix by Neo Tokyo. Really good part begins at 2:20. There's a lot that happens in this song: the cut/edit in-n-out of squirrel like vocals (think Kanye), high-pitched echoing in the background, bass all over the place, and a bunch more. Hope you enjoy it.

FEAR OF TIGERS ON AN AVON COMMERCIAL

So I was watching the tele today excitedly waiting for the new episode of Lost, which was a disappointing episode, and as whatever program I was watching at the moment went into commercial break, I went into my usual routine of blankly staring at the t.v. with no thoughts, kind of like a mental patient who just had his lobotomy. But suddenly, my mind awoke from its mental rest and started exerting much more energy than I was accustomed to while watching commercials. It was trying to remember the familiar sound of the Avon commercial song. After a couple seconds, I had my light bulb moment, and to quite a delight. It was playing the Fear of Tigers, "The Adventures of Pippi Longstrom!" My god, an electro song from one of my favorite artists this year had made headway into the advertising industry. Cheers Fear of Tigers and Avon commercial.

BLOODY BEETROOTS, DEATH CREW 77, DOMINO

The Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77 "DOMINO" from Bennet Pimpinella on Vimeo.

There may be confusion as to all the names on the title, but no worries, they are all associated with the awesome The BLOODY BEETROOTS. They just produced a promo video called "Domino" in which it depicts a circa 1977 feel with black/white, and has THE BLOODY BEETROOTS leading a revolution against the Nazis for musical anarchy.

A Thing of Beauty

Rox - My Baby Left Me (Terror Danjah Remix) -- vocals and beat are a +

Kid Sister - Daydreaming (Jakwob Remix) - Another great remix by Jakwob. Always picks the right songs to remix and kills em.

Les Gillettes - Pompeii (Jokers of the Scene Remix) - Heavy, Dark, Unpredictable, Nasty.

TV ROCK ft. RUDY - IN THE AIR (A1 BASSLINE REMIX)

A1 BASSLINE COMBINES THE PERPETUAL MARCHING DRUMS OF TECHNO WITH DISCO SOUND. PRETTY DARN GOOD.

FEAR OF TIGERS

Yes Giantess - The Ruins (Fear of Tigers Remix) -- Awesome, amazing disco/electro sound from Fear of Tigers. They are definitely becoming one of my favorite artists of the year.

Gettin Started

Welcome folks to Jak & his Beanstalk! To get this blog started, I'll kick it off with a few heavy hittin' electro tracks, for I am one of electros biggest fans. Enjoy.

SebastiAn - H.A.L. (Capt & Cooked Remix) -- Capt & Cooked did a number on SebastiAn's Threnody a couple months back and boy, did they do banging remix again. Will definitely make your head bop.

Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP - We No Speak Americano -- If you've seen The Talented Mr. Ripley, you will have heard the original of this song sung in a karaoke song. It's good, but this remix is way better.

Gooseflesh - Still Wild (Iron Toyz) -- French electro group called the Iron Toyz remixes this tune, giving its catchy vocals an edgy electronic sound. My favorite of the bunch.

Carte Blanche - In the Mix -- A real keeper.

Pornopink - French Ballad -- To cap it off this last song includes a rich melodic piano variation that meshes extremely well with its electronic counterpart. If you love the sound of piano, then you will absolutely love this song. I surely do.
